Biography

Henrietta, daughter of Thomas Rigby, was born about 1768 in Virginia. She was engaged to marry Jonathan Greathouse and was with him when their pirogue was attacked by Indians on 24 March 1791 at or near the mouth of Brush Creek in present Adams County, Ohio. The entire party was killed by Mingo Indians and she and Jonathan were brutally killed by torture. Her body was left on the Ohio River beach and was destroyed by wild animals.
