Biography

Bertha was born in Indiana on 23 March 1871.^[1][2] Her parents were Esom M. and Martha Ball Riggs.^[3][2] She married Emery Heritage on 9 March 1892 in Madison County, Indiana.^[4] Sometime after 1902 the couple moved to the Little Pend Oreille area of Washington State, where they operated a hunting lodge or resort on what is now called Lake Heritage.^[5] They had no children. Bertha died in Colville, Washington on 2 April 1957.^[2]
