OBITUARY
MRS. JULIA ANN CARTWRIGHT
THERE passed away at East Kurrajong on Thursday of last week yet another old and highly esteemed district resident in the person of Mrs. Julia Ann Cartwright, of East Kurrajong. Although in her 85th year, the deceased had enjoyed comparative good health up till three months before her death.
The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Riley, the late Mrs Cartwright was born at Wollombi, and at the age of 8 years came with her parents to reside at Tennyson. At the age of 22 she married her late husband, Mr. John Edward Cartwright, and went with him to take up residence at East Kurrajong, continuing to live at that centre till the time of her death. Of an obliging and lovable disposition, the late Mrs. Cartwright was always ready and willing to assist a neighbour when the necessity arose, especially in time of illness, her many charitable acts of this nature winning for her wide respect throughout the district in which she resided. During the illness which preceded her death, deceased was lovingly and devotedly nursed by her grand- daughter, Mrs. Riley.
The late Mrs. Cartwrignt is survived by four sons, John (Kenthurst), Thomas (Mangrove), Samuel (Spencer), and Frerderick (Blaxland's Ridge), and four daughters, Florence (Mrs. A. Case, Windsor), Mary (Mrs.'R. Greentree, Wilberforce), Julia (Mrs. Ryder, Canley Vale) and Lora (Mrs. Day, Orange). Her husband and one daughter (who died in infancy) predeceased her some years ago.
The funeral, which was very largely attended, took place on Saturday, the remains being interred in the Catholic cemetery, Kurrajong, Rev Fr. O'Sullivan officiating at the graveside. Mr. Chandler, of Windsor, had charge of the funeral arrangements.
