Biography

That her maiden name was Riley is a guess based on the fact that more than one of her children used the name "Riley" as a middle name for one of their children.

Based on census records[1][2], she was born between 1771 and 1775.

Her name is given as both Peggy and Margaret in primary records, Peggy a nickname for Margaret. She and Tryon Gibson were probably married about 1795 in Russell County, VA.

She released her dower rights in several deeds[3][4][5], the only mention of her in primary records aside from census records. She made her mark so was illiterate.

She died sometime after 1840, possibly in Newton or Jasper County, MO.
