Peter Rine was born in January 1815 in Union (now Snyder) County, Pennsylvania, a son of Jacob Rine and Catherina [unknown surname]. He was christened on 26 February 1815 at Botschaft Lutheran And Reformed Church, Chapman Twp, Union (now Snyder) County, Pennsylvania. Bauerman, later Botschaft, then Grubb’s, Church is located in Chapman Township, 5 miles from Mt. Pleasant Mills.[1]
NOTE: Findagrave.com says his birthdate was 3 January 1817. However, the christening record says his birth date is 3 January 1815.
He married Susanna Carvell in about 1847. They made their home primarily in Chapman Township, Union County (later Snyder County), Pennsylvania and briefly in nearby Perry County.[2], [3] Sadly, they lost four of their nine children before they reached the age of 4. Their children included:
Satilla Rine (1854-1854) - Satilla was born 8.5 months after sister Catherine (back-to-back babies?); died at 7 months old – 1 month before sister Catherine
Peter died at age 50 in 1867 and was buried in Trinity United Brethren Church Cemetery, McKees Half Falls, Snyder County, Pennsylvania.[8]
