Biography

Samuel was born about 1778 in Pennsylvania.

He married Amelia (Armelia in some records) sometime before about 1817.

1800 census, Franklin Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania. Household included one male age 16-25 (Samuel), one female age 16-25 (presumably his wife Amelia), and two males under age 10 (probably sons Simon and Joseph).[1]

In 1850 at age 70, he lived with his daughter, son-in-law, and their children in Huntington, Ross County, Ohio. His son Samuel and family lived in the next house.[2]

He passed away in 1856. (source needed, but he does not appear to be in the 1860 census so this unsourced date is plausible)

Research Notes

Samuel appears to have had 8 sons (Simon, Joseph, Barnet, Asa, Enos, Reason, John, and Samuel) and at least 2 daughters (Nancy and Sarah), and possible another, Amelia, though she may be a granddaughter.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Samuel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Samuel:

Something is wrong here. If Samuel was born about 1778 it is impossible for him to have a son Barnet born in 1786. Samuel was about 8 years old in 1786. This Rinehart Family is large and hard to unravel because of all the guardianships after fathers died. Sometimes the kids petitioned the courts to change guardians! You may find an answer in the guardianship records. Depending on the dates it could be either Greene or Washington County. It helps to know the genealogy of the county.
