ABINGDON, VIRGINIA - Joyce Ring Kiser, 78, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee after a brief illness. She was born in Dante, Virginia; daughter of the late Robert Walter and Reda Nash Ring. She lived in Castlewood, Virginia until moving to Abingdon, Virginia in 2000. She was a member of Clinch Valley Chapter O. E. S. #152. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and attended Pleasant View United Methodist Church in Abingdon, Virginia. Joyce was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Allen Bryan Kiser in 1999; and four brothers, Carlyle Ring, Delmer Goff, Elmer Goff, and Bobby Ring. She is survived by one son, Gregory A. Kiser and wife, Tracey of Kingsport, Tennessee; as well as two granddaughters, who were her passion, Rachel Gossett of Tampa, Florida and Holly Gossett of Knoxville, Tennessee; eight sisters, Eva "Sister" Jarrett of Reidsville, North Carolina, Pauline Addington of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Dorothy Sim of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Kate Holbrook of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Erma Ogburn of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Betty Kirby of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Frances Willis of Walnut Cove, North Carolina, and Deborah Presnell of Fancy Gap, Virginia; four brothers, Robert W. "Bill" Ring of Castlewood, Virginia, Jimmy Ring of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Jessee Ring of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Ray Ring of Walnut Cove, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Joyce Ring Kiser will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2008 in the Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Jim Goddard and Rev. Stan Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Family and Friends.
