Biography

Lucy Ring was born in 1751, the daughter of George Ring and Lucretia Chipman of Kingston, Mass[1]

In 1762, she accompanied her family to Nova Scotia, where they were among the first settlers of Yarmouth township[2] [3] [4] [5] [6]

On March 14, 1768, she married Jonathan Scott, who was also an early Yarmouth settler[5] [2] [6], and their children included:

  1. John, born November 21, 1768[5] [2], who married Ruth Hilton, daughter of Amos
  2. Lydia, born July 21, 1770[5] [2], who married Ebenezer Ellis (son of Ebenezer, and then married David Verrill of Minot
  3. Samuel, born January 26, 1772[5] [2], no further record found
  4. Jonathan Edwards, born May 13, 1773[5] [2], a ships master who married in Maine
  5. Lucretia, born December 2, 1774[5] [2], who married Timothy Redding of Minot
  6. Olive, born October 5, 1776[5] [2], who married John Tedford.

Lucy died at Chebogue, Nova Scotia on December 20, 1777, at the age of 26 [6], and was buried in Chebogue cemetery[7]
