Note
Note: Scott Co. records give birth date of Jan. 6. The date of Jan. 1 is from his WWI draft registration card.
Wilson Pond states that Harold was Florence's only son and that he "was a casualty following World War I." He is shown living with his parents in the censuses of 1900, 1910, and 1920. In 1920, he was listed as a student. The Minnesota Historical Society gives the date of death for Harold J. Ring on August 8, 1930, in Hennepin Co. Hine Pond's diary, however, indicates the funeral was November 11, 1930.
Harold Ring's WW I draft registration card indicates he was an inspector, working for A. O. Leach, supervising engineer, at the Army Supply Base, Norfolk, Virginia. His father is listed as nearest relative. The report describes Harold as tall and stout, with brown eyes and red hair. The card was signed by the Norfolk Co. draft board but has a Scott County stamp and is filed with cards from Scott Co.
In 1920 he was unemployed and lived with his sister in Minneapolis.
In 1930 he was enumerated in the Veterans' Hospital, Fort Snelling.
