Biography

Ellen was the daughter of Robert Ringland, a Farmer of Ballybrick and Ellen Bell Henderson. She was also known as Lily. ^[1]

Robert Ringland 30 yrs farmer, wife Ellen Bell 25 yrs, Elen Eliza 6 yrs, Wm James 5 yrs, Gilbert 2 yrs, John Andrew infant, resided in 1911 in house 1 in Closkelt (Moneyslane, Down). ^[2]

Ellen emigrated to Canada in 1923 on the ship Montclare leaving from Liverpool May 9, destination Quebec.

Ellen Ringland married Andrew Elliott in 1925 at St Judes, Oakville. Andrew was 24 and Ellen aged 20. Their witnesses were James Patterson and Jane Eliza Dodds of Oakville. Ellen was the daughter of Robert Ringland and Ellen Bell Henderson.

Three known children were born in their marriage, daughters Margaret Bradford Elliott 1922, Mary Andrew Elliott about 1934 and Susan.

Mary married Robert Thompson and remained in Ontario where she died in 2014. Mary Andrew Thompson - Maiden Name Elliott - Death Age 80, Birth Date abt 1934, Death Date 3 Jan 2014, Death Place Winston Park, Kitchener, Burial Date 11 Jan 2014, Burial Place 2014. Spouse Robert M. Thompson, Siblings Margaret Hanna, New Zealand, Susan Palmer.

Margaret married David Charles Hanna and settled in New Zealand where she died in 2015. Margaret and David Hanna are buried at North Shore Memorail Park, Auckland.^[3] David Hanna was a native of Banbridge, Down, Ireland.^[4]

Ellen was widowed in 1949 when Andrew died 47.

Ellen Elliott died in 1981 aged 76 and is buried at Saint Johns Norway Cemetery and Crematorium, The Beaches, Toronto.
