Biography
Rufus, son of Hezekiah and Abigail (Hunt) Ripley, was born at Duxbury, MA on May 1, 1740 and baptized there on November 15, 1741.
He married Mary Shurtliff/Shurtleff of Plymouth, intentions June 18, 1763. Their children included Joseph and Mary Ripley.
After his death Mary married Zenas Drew in 1792.
Probate
Rufus Ripley of Kingston, mariner died intestate and on 13 April 1783, his widow Mary was granted the administration of his estate.[1]
His inventory was taken on 19 May 1783 in Kingston.[2]
In 1787, his estate was represented as insolvent. A list of claims and creditors was recorded.[3]
In 1788, an account of his estate by Mary Ripley was recorded which included the sale of real estate, necessaries to the widow, and administration fees. No estate remained, so no further proceedings were needed.[4]
