Note: On 26 March 1772, Peter received from his father, John, 100acres on Petty's Creek. The land was described as land John purchasedfrom Thomas walker, on which Peter now lives, land lies on CountyLine. He was listed on the Tax List in 1783 from Amherst countyVirginia.Peter received a Land Deed on 23 October 1783 in Orange county. "Peter Rippitoeof Orange county Virginia and Sarah his wife to John Jones for 10,000 weight of Richmond tobacco, 100 acres of land part of 420 acres granted to
Thomas walker. Land on the county line (Orange/Albemarle) to aridge on the Rippen's line" He appeared on the census in 1790 inAmherst county and was listed as having ten white souls in hishousehold.
Peter was in Nelson county, Virginia on the 1810 census whichlisted him over 45 years and one male was at home (probably his son, Peter who did not marry until 1811). He was on the tax list of Orange

He appeared on the census in 1790 in Amherst Co. VA. Peter Rippetoewas listed as having ten white souls in his household. He appeared onthe census in 1810 in Nelson Co. VA. Peter was over 45 years and onemale was at home. (probably son Peter who did not marry until 1811) He died about 1823. . In 1782 he took the list oftithers for his area of Orange County. Peter had one white tithe, twohorses and sixcattle.

____ - Peter was a soldier in the Revolution, by petition, from Orange County, Virginia.
1783 - Peter sold his farm in Orange County, in 1783.
1784 - Peter Rippetoe purchased land in Amherst County, Virginia from Sarah Henry, widow of John Henry, who were the parents of Patrick Henry, on 3 May 1784. Tax records show Peter paying taxes on this 523 acres through the late 1790's. Peter sold 215 acres of this land to his son-in-law, William Coffey.
1823 - Peter Rippetoe died in Virginia. To quote James Emory Rippetoe, "Peter Oglesby Rippetoe fell dead at the age of 86 while trapping in Virginia."
