Biography

The following was furnished by Miss Adeline Ritch Mayo (mayo-1941) on Dec. 16, 1918.

"John Ritch served as a Private in the revolution. He was cut across the back of the neck with a sword, but this did not kill him, he was taken prisoner in a battle on Long Island and died in an old sugar house in New York City. His wife moved to North Salem, New York and died there in 1817. Lewis Elbert Ritch, their son, married Elizabeth Wallace, 1st wife, then married Charity Hulse, from around Middle Island, New York, Long Island Sound. I got these dates of Lewis Ritch and Charity Hulse from an old cousin in Middle Island. She could not find out Charity Hulse's mother's maiden name, her first name was Jerusha. The dates were down in the old Ritch Bible."
