Biography
Soon after marrying James Smith in Scotland at age 16 they came to visit relatives in Dinwiddie Co Virginia. Namely her Aunty Margaret and her husband Thomas Banks and her Uncle Robert Ritchie. The story passed down is that the trip to America had been a very rough one for Ann that she vowed that she'd 'ne'er go back across that pond again', and that was that.
