In the 1880 Census, her name looks like Edward. Could this be E be Edward and that is why she always went by E or Viola? She does not show in the 1870 Census but this Edward shows up as 10 and that would be her age about.

• Apparently, E. Viola's name was EDWARD VIOLA Ritchie. In the 1860 and

1870 census, she was listed as being a MALE, and even after she was married, she was listed as EDWARD.
