Biography

Saul was born December 25, 1923 or December 28, 1923(see Notes) in the Bronx, Bronx, New York, United States.[1] His parents were Paul Ritter and Mollie (Brender) Ritter, both Austrian[2] or Romanian[3] immigrants.

In 1925, one year old Saul lived at 1226 Boston Road in the Bronx, Bronx, New York, United States with his father Paul (age 42), mother Molly (age 40) and older brothers Daniel (age 17), Samuel (age 16), Jacob (age 13), and Leon (age 7). His father was a furrier.[2]

In 1930, six year old Saul lived at 1226 Boston Road in the Bronx, Bronx, New York, United States with his father Paul (age 49), mother Molly (age 44) and older brothers Daniel (age 22), Samuel (age 20), Jacob (age 18), and Leon (age 12). His father was a furrier.[2]

During World War II, Saul was a Private in the United States Army and was wounded. His next of kin was his mother, Molly Ritter, at 250 East Gun Hill Road in the Bronx, Bronx, New York, United States. He was released from the army March 1, 1944.[4]

Saul married Cesia Honig September 27, 1950 in Queens County, New York, United States[5] and they had two children (see Notes).

Saul and Cesia were probably divorced before 1976,[citation needed] when Saul married Annette Rieders.[6]

Saul and Annette lived in Flushing, Queens, New York, United States until about 2000, when they moved to Bordentown, New Jersey, United States.[7]

Saul died June 20, 2017 and was buried in the Montefiore Cemetery in Springfield Gardens, Queens, New York, United States.[8]

Notes

Birth Date
Although Saul's birth record shows that he was born December 28, 1923, all other records that show his birth date are consistent stating it as December 25, 1923. It is, therefore, believed that the correct date is December 25 and it is likely that the birth record was registered a few days later.

Children
Saul's children were:

  • Marcia Ritter
  • Neil Ritter
