Conrad's obituary from the Davis County Iowa paper states:
"Conrad Ritz died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clint Archer, residing north of Pulaski, sat 12 Nov. Deceased was 89 years of age. Mrs. Ritz preceded him in death three years ago. Mr. Ritz is survived by three sons and two daughters. Funeral services were conducted at Rabbit Ridge church Mon afternoon by rev. Wilson of Milton. Interment was made in Rouch cem.
Son of Ulrich and Ann Ritz, born in Switzerland, Feb 24, 1838 and died 12 Nov 1927.
He came to America at the age of 18 years and settled in Davis Co.
He married Ellanor Elizabeth Bales on 22 Feb 1863, who died 17 Mar 1925. Son Aaron died at age 18 and daughter, Mrs. Ella Steele at age 36.
Other daughters are Mrs. Clint Archer and Mrs. Wade Penrod and three sons, Edd, Arthur and Irvin. Pallbearers were six of his grandchildren, Floyd and Cecil Steele, Max and Ralph Archer, Floss Ritz and Lowell Penrod."

Family lore and an article published in "This is Davis County Iowa" (1976) has that he emigrated from Zürich, Switzerland to America in 1856 by sail ship (a 72 day trip). then across the Alleghanies, down the Mississippi and finally to Davis Co., Iowa. He resided in Union Twp., Davis Co., IA. Page 393 of "This is Davis County Iowa" has a picture with brothers Conrad (age 78), John Ulrich (age 76), Jacob (age 73) and Heinrich (age 74 AKA Henry) Ritz. The photo was taken between Jul-Nov 1916.

However, a record of entry exists for New Orleans, LA dated 14th April, 1856 and indicating a departure point of Havre France.
