Henry was born in the City of London and baptised at St Bartholomew by the Exchange on 7th February1562/3. He is the son of John Rivers and Elizabeth Barne.[1]
In the Will of his father, John Rivers, citizen and Alderman of London, which was made on 31st January 1583/4 Henry was bequeathed the '3 messuages or tenements in St Sithes Lane in the parish of St Anthonies within the City of London' when he had completed serving his apprenticeship.[2]
In the Will of his mother, Lady Elizabeth Rivers the elder. which was made on 12th January 1618/9, 'my well beloved son Henry Rivers' was bequeathed 'a hundred and fifty pounds of lawful money of England' and also two deep standing silver bowls, one gilt salt with a cover and one dozen silver spoons.[3][4]
'Henry Rivers, Gentleman of London' made his Will on 2nd April 4 Chas (1628) and probate was granted on 15th May 1628. [5]
