Faustin Rivet, son of Vidal Marcelin Rivet and Constance Dardenne, was born on 23 November 1830 in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, United States. He was baptized on 6 March 1832 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. His godparents were Arvelier Dardennes and Artemise Lanclos.[1] He was enumerated in his father's household on the 1850 census in Iberville Parish.[2]
Faustin Rivet was the godfather of John Pierre Breaux, his nephew, who was baptized 15 February 1852 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Plaquemine.[3]
Faustin was enumerated in the household of Maximillien Gatoir on the 1860 Census in Rosedale, Iberville Parish. He claimed real estate valued at $1400.[4] Faustin and Maximillien appear to have jointly owned one black male slave, age 15.[5]
