Marie Homere Rivette, son of Joseph Rivette and Emelia Cormier, was born on 28 June 1857 in Grand Coteau, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, United States.[1]
He was enumerated with his parents in St. Landry Parish during the 1870 and 1880 censuses.[2][3]
He married first Cecil (--?--) about 1890.[4]
They were enumerated on a farm during the 1900 census in St. Martin Parish. Homer owned his farm free and clear.[4]
He married second Philomene Prejean, daughter of Gustave Prejean and Aimee Lecompte, on 31 October 1906.[5][6]
They were enumerated on a farm during the 1910 census in St. Martin Parish. Homer owned the farm with a mortgage. The family spoke French, but Homer could read and write English.[6]
By 1920, they rented their farm.[7]
In 1930, Homer and Philomene were no longer living on a farm. They owned a home located in Police Jury Ward Three of St. Landry Parish.[8]
In 1940 they were living on the Pecaniere Dirt Road in St. Landry Parish. They owned their home, which was valued at $100. Homer had a second grade education, and was unable to work. Philomene had no formal education.[9]
Homer died at age 91 on 5 June 1949 in Leonville,[10][11]
and was buried at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church Cemetery in Arnaudville.[12]
