Hi, Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, here are a few more features you may find useful

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you will run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page or G2G Post. Sandy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hi Anne,

Just a quick PS

Don't forget to Head over to the G2G forum. and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House or ask a question in any of the other categories. There's also a brickwall tag in the G2G forum: for that "special" ancestor who is eluding you.

if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

Best Wishes, and have fun adding your leaves and branches!

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community! Please remember that we are trying to build one Collaborative Global Family Tree which means only one profile per person. It is important to ensure that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced.

To help you get started, check out an introductory WikiTree video that a member created. For member benefits, see our Community Members page.

We also have a Mentor Team who will be glad to answer questions and help you with any specific problems.

Welcome and Enjoy!

Hi - always been interested in family tree(s!) My Gt. Grandfather was William Howells Rix of Tunbridge Wells, Kent (who married Rosalie Jane Marsac - another interesting line!) and we have traced paternal ancestry back to William Rixe of Wrentham, Suffolk, b. 1617. I've heard that the Rix family were originally Hugenots - so were my maternal ancestors, who we have back to John Van Donge who was married in Cranbrook in 1692 (name later anglicised to Dungey. Somewhere back in Rix tree (I think) is someone who 'went to America' and we know no more ... sorry can't find his name on papers to hand ...

Greetings! Anne

Hi Anne,

Welcome to WikiTree! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? After you’ve confirmed your email address, you’ll see a Volunteer option on your profile page. Click that and leave us a short message about your genealogical interests. A Greeters Project volunteer will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way! Welcome to the family! We’re really glad you’re here.
