Brian Rix was born on 27 January 1924 in Cottingham, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. [1]
He was the son of Hebert Dobson Rix (1885-1966) and Fanny (Nicholson) Rix (-1976).
Education
Educated at Bootham School, York, Yorkshire, England.
Marriage
After a long courtship, Brian Rix married Elspet Gray in 1949 in Holderness, Yorkshire, England. [2]
Death
He passed away in 2016. [3]
Children
Brian Rix and Elspeth Gray had four children:
- Shelley Elspet Rix (1951-2005)
- Louisa Rix, an actress and interior designer
- Jamie Rix, a children's author and TV producer
- Jonathan Rix, Professor of Participation and Learning Support at the Open University
Honours
Brian Rix was knighted in June 1986 [4].
On 27 January 1992, Sir Brian Rix was created a life peer, becoming Baron Rix of Whitehall in the City of Westminster and of Hornsea in Yorkshire [5].
