Biography

Claudia Sophia (Roach) Fricker was born in Barbados.

Baptism

Claudia Sophia Roach was the daughter of Richard Thomas Roach & Margaret Elizabeth Olton. Claudia was baptised on 22 January 1874 in Saint John, Barbados, Caribbean.^[1][2]

Family

Claudia met George on his whirlwind trip around the world in the colonial wars. He was a soldier stationed at St. Ann's Garrison and he married her instantly on 27 April 1892 in St. Paul's chapel, St. Michael, Barbados^[3] and Frank was born in Barbados later in the year. ^[4] Subsequently they travelled around the world with their family. Victoria May Fricker was born in Rangoon, British India on 22 January 1901, her sister Millicent was also born in Rangoon. George and Claudia returned to England during their tour where Ernest was born. After George's retirement from the Duke of Wellington's regiment, their youngest son, Charles Fricker was born.

Claudia was 37 years old in the 1911 England census and lived at 10 Northfield Place in Bradford, Yorkshire with her family. ^[5] Son Frank Edmund Fricker (1892-1983) was absent and with the Royal Artillery.
