"This is a jumble of incoherent info. Is William Marriott supposed to be the same as William Merritt. Please tie the info together."
This in regards to this page: Marriott-417
The answer is Yes. Merritt researchers working on this time frame understand that Marriott, Merritt, and a half dozen other variations are all the same. My favorite example and proof is the will of this gal here, where in the same paragraph, her surname is spelled three different ways: Yes she is one of my Merritts too.
If you have specific questions about the jumble, please hit me up. Me: Merritt-1984

I've had some of your same frustrations. Now that I know that there could be multiple wives maybe I can track down some new sources too. Post info as you can and I'll do the same now that it's on my radar. One thing I'll do is try to see if the family records I have reflect any of this new information. Rick

If you read the biography of Mary Sheppard's father, Robert Sheppard, it specifically says that the only one of his children to have children was Anne Sheppard. Since James Riddick, my 7th great grandfather, had three children it couldn't have been Mary Sheppard. Also, James and Mary Dunstan-703 were both from Northern Ireland and it appears at least one child was born there. Also, if you look up James Riddick, born 1630, wife Mary on FamilySearch you will see that there are only 30 entries, the majority of which reference Mary Dunstan. If you look up James's son, Lemuel Riddick, born 1660 on FamilySearch every reference states his mother as Mary Dunstan. I hope this gives you the information you need to understand my decision. Please let me know if it is insufficient. James

It makes life so much more interesting. After receiving that diagnoses, it freed me to be me. Any personality quirk you "develop" is suddenly acceptable and overlooked no matter how distasteful. I: when I go to the shrinks I have this one couch I used to love to sit on. I would make people move. Now I demand that people move and have my wheelchair parked in front of it.
I like it because my service dog can comfortably sit under it and not be molested by people. It is really hard to hide a 120 lb bullmastiff!
