Biography

William was born in Indiana on 22 April 1838. He was a cabinet maker by trade. He married Lovina Sarah Axtell in a double wedding ceremony on 13 September 1860 in Albion, Noble County, Indiana. Lovina's sister Jane Axtell married John Eaton were the other couple. William and Lovina had seven children over 24 years the first in 1861 and the last in 1885. William served in the Civil War. He passed away in 1923.

Some have the last name spelled Roth, but all family mementos and papers have the name spelled Roath. William and Lovina's headstone in the Meridian Cemetery in Meridian, Idaho confirm the spelling.
