Biography

Hop Roberson was born in 1855 and passed away in 1912. He was the son of George Hopkins and Susan Roberson ^[1] It that his father divorced and remarried while Susan (his mother) was still pregnant with him. She then reverted to her maiden name and her sons took the Roberson surname as well. ^[2] Hop is buried at Green Hill Cemetery in Murray, Oklahoma.^[3]

Death of Hop Roberson.

Hop Roberson who has conducted a restaurant on Main street, near the depot for several years, died Monday night after an extended illness. He was a victim of Bright's disease and has been sick for about three years. He was operated upon about a year ago but seemed to get no permanent relief. Burial was had at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, the services conducted by Rev. R.W. Oakes assisted by Rev. R.A. Crosby.

Mr. Roberson was born at Winchester, Tenn., May 27, 1855, and was married in 1881. He joined the Presbyterian church at Harmony, Tenn., in 1879. He moved to Davis about seven years ago, and lived her since that time, most of the time conducting a restaurant. Mr. Roberson had an extensive acquaintance and was liked by all who knew him. He leaves a wife, four sons, and three daughters to mourn his departure. To these we extend sympathy in their bereavement. ^[6]
