John Roberts was born on 15th August 1931 at Wentworth, New South Wales, Australia and was affectionately called Johnny by his siblings. His parents were Charles Roberts and Molly Newson. ^{[citation needed]}

John Roberts married Noelene Dorothy Ryan and they had a girl, Michelle, and 2 boys, Douglas and Justin. Justin passed away suddenly on 22nd September 2020, age 48 years.

John Roberts was separated from his wife Noelene at the time of his death but they were never divorced.
