Biography

Major General, Sir Abraham Roberts was born to the famous Waterford family in Ireland. He received honours for his service as part of the British East India Company. He served in India for 50 years.

General Sir Abraham Roberts was born on 11 April 1784. He was the son of Reverend John Roberts and Anne Sandys.

He married firstly Frances Isabella Poyntz Ricketts, daughter of George Poyntz Ricketts and Sophia Sarah Jane Pierce, on 20 July 1820.

He married, secondly, Isabella Bunbury, daughter of Abraham Bunbury, on 2 August 1830.

He died on 28 December 1873 at age 89.

He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the 101st Regiment. He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) He fought in the First Afghan War
