The Heritage of Miller Co., GA 1856 - 2003, pg.162-163: Drewry homesteaded in Miller County about three miles from Colquitt on the banks of Spring Creek, building a log cabin. Travelers began coming through, crossing the creek, and wanting to spend the night. Drewry enlarged his cabin and called this part of the creek "Roberts Crossing." (Years later it became known as Rawls Landing.) Up the hill from the crossing, he built a house for his family.

The History Of Miller County Georgia 1856 - 1980: "At the January term, 1838, Drewry Roberts having previously built a bridge across Spring Creek at or near his house, and cut out a road across the swamp out to the road on the east side of the Creek, the court ordered the road across the Creek to be recognized as a public road and the road at the east side of the Creek to be recognized as a public road in lieu of the road on the west side, which was discontinued. This was a great error. There was no swamp on the west side of the Creek, but on the east it was so bad that it could not be made passable in high water, except by a turnpike, which was never built. The bridge was located opposite Mr. Thomas Rawls."
"An Abstract of Title Deed Book, Miller County shows this bridge to be in District 13, Lot 171 and still in use in 1857. This is the area called Rawls Landing which is east of Rawls Cemetery. It is known that Drewry Roberts' home was on the small hill to the south of Rawls Cemetery."
