The early years

Sarah Ellen Roberts was born on the 20th of Feb 1862^[1] in DeKalb, Tennessee to Washington Roberts and Mary Parker^[2][3].

In 1880^[4] her family was living in Scottsville, Allen, Kentucky. In the home were Washington 42, Mary Ann 40, Sarah E 18, Zilpha 13, Lovell 11, Dianey 9, Mary 7, Amanda 4 and Nancy 1.

In 1900^[6] she has been married for 20 years no and in that time had 10 children, but only 7 survived. They are living in Massey, Allen, Kentucky and in the home are Jerome 42, Sarah 38, Archie 18, Willie 15, Ezrie 12, Hershell 9, Mary 7, Charley 3, Lucy 1. They rent the farm they live on, and Jerome's occupation is a farmer.

In 1910^[7] They are still living in Massey Kentucky, she confirms now that she has had 12 children, but only 7 survived. In the home are Jerome 52, Sally 48, Charlie 13, Lucy 11, Mettie 8, Roy 6. They still rent their farm.

In 1918 she would lose her husband Jerome and life would change.

In 1920^[11] She is now living in Puncheon Allen, Kentucky and attempting to run the farm she rents with her son Roy who is now 16..

Her final home would be in Allen, Kentucky^[3]

Death

She died the 9th of June 1939 in Scottsville, Allen, Kentucky^[2][3] , her sister Zilpha signing the death certificate. She would be buried in the Chestnut Point Baptist Cemetery in Scottsville, Allen, Kentucky^[1].
