May was born on 13 May 1903, at Batemans Bay, NSW. She was the daughter of William Roberts and Amy Ladmore.[1]
May grew up in Batemans Bay and married Philip John Stuart Gale in Batemans Bay on 12 January 1922.[2]
Jack (as he was known throughout his adult life) and May lived in Batemans Bay until around 1925 when they moved north, firstly to Nowra, then to Kiama, where Jack, as well as May's father William and her brothers Fred and Jack, were all employed at the Bombo quarry near Kiama, NSW. They lived the majority of the rest of their lives in Kiama, until ill health in later life.
Jack and May had 14 children.
May died at Eversleigh Home of Peace Hospital, in Petersham, Sydney, NSW, on 29 December 1973, and was cremated at the Rookwood Crematorium in Sydney.[3]
