Research Notes

In the research of Doctor Data issues with the children of this family it appears that the mother's maiden surname of Roberts may be incorrect.

There are no births with the mother's maiden name of Roberts.

However, all of the births from information gained from the census of 1871, 1881, 1901 and 1911 show a history of the seven boys born with a birth place of their father William Rees of Pembrokeshire, Wales. In all of these cases the mother's maiden name is Jones and all except the eldest son Gwilym Rees (registered birth in Bedwellty, Glamorgan), were born in the registration district of Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan.
The 1911 census notes the couple as married for fifty two years and have given birth to seven children of which one had sadly passed prior to 1911. Further research is required to ascertain which of the sons passed away but it was not Roger or Edwin.

George Rees was registered^[4]during the second quarter 1868 in Merthyr Tydfil. There are no other names of these christian name combinations registered.
There are seven birth registrations in the district of Merthyr Tydfil with the name of David Rees, one of David John Rees, one of David Llewellyn Rees and one of David Thomas Rees covering the period of two years either side of the birth date credited of 1871. There are no birth registrations of David Rosser Rees and none of the census above show David as having a middle christian name. Further research is required to ascertain the correct citation for this child.

The youngest child born was named Edwin Jones Rees. There were thirteen birth registrations with the name of Edwin in England and Wales during the two years either side of 1880. Only one had the name of Edwin Jones and was registered^[8]during the first quarter of 1880 in Merthyr Tydfil and had the mother's maiden name of Jones.
