On March 7, 1803, Francis served as surety for the marriage of Thomas Roberts and Sallie Herndon in Charlotte County, Virginia.[2]
On January 18, 1806, the allotments of Joseph Herndon's will were recorded to include: "Allotted to Francis Roberts & Wife one negro by the name of Isaac - also the sum of £19.1.9". Francis also served as the executor of the estate.[3]
On December 21, 1818, an inventory of the estate of Francis Roberts, administrator John Roberts (likely his nephew), was filed with Charlotte County. Alongside his household belongings, Francis also enslaved nine individuals: adults Peter, Jenney, Hannah, Lucky (and child Moncilla) and children Mary, Harrison, Gabriel, William, and Prudence.[4]
