Birthdate based on the fact that he was of age at the time of the writing of his father's will. He is also listed fourth among the children and is, therefore, most likely the fourth oldest.
The appraisal of the estate of Francis Roberts was completed on July 4, 1791. Names of note are John Roberts, dec'd; William Hatchell.[2]
On March 31, 1804, John Roberts paid "seventy five pounds current money of Virginia" to William Lain for one hundred acres of land in Charlotte County bounded by the lines of John Randolph, Quin Morton, John Pettey, Stephen May, & Thomas Brooks. The sale was witnessed by John Pollock, Young Brizendine, Richard Carter, George Redmond, and Pleasant Cosby.[3]
On November 20, 1812, Henry Roberts and his wife, Oney sold land along the "branches of Sandy Creek containing one hundred & thirteen acres and a half" to Daniel R. Barnes for "one hundred twenty pounds current money of Virginia." This land was bounded by property held by David McCargo and Little John McCargo. to Daniel R. Barnes. John Roberts provided witness on March 1, 1813.[4]
