Alason Gilbert Roberts was born Mar. 30, 1795 in Danbury, Fairfield Co., CT. In 1798, his family moved to Onondaga Co., NY. Alanson came to Knox Co., IN on Apr. 20, 1818, and located in Bruceville. He married Miss Mary Fairhurst on Dec 25, 1821. She was born in Wythe Co. VA, Jan. 9, 1793, and moved to Knox County in 1814 with her family. They had 12 children. . . . Alanson Roberts taught school for 16 years, was a successful farmer, served as superintendent of schools and justice of the peace, and was one of the largest landowners in the county. [1]

Alanson died 18 Oct 1875 and is buried in the Bruceville Cemetery, Bruceville, Knox Co., Indiana.
