Biography
Evaline Worthington Roberts was born on November 11, 1867 in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas. She was the daughter of John Wesley Roberts and Rebecca Frances Milliken. [1] [2]
The 1870 Federal Census, taken June 17th, listed Evaline, age 2, as living with her parents John and Rebecca, her brother William Braden and her sisters Nina Jane, Elizabeth Mathilda and Victorene G. on the family farm in Tecumseh Township, Shawnee, Kansas. [3]
The 1875 Kansas State Census, taken March 1st, listed Evaline, age 6, as living with her parents John and Rebecca, her brothers William Braden and Roy Carson, and her sisters Nina Jane, Elizabeth Matilda, Victorene G. and Maud May on the family farm in Tecumseh Township, Shawnee, Kansas. [4]
The 1880 Federal Census, taken June 16th, listed Evaline, age 12, as living with her parents John and Rebecca, her brothers William Braden and Roy Carson, and her sisters Nina Jane, Elizabeth Matilda, Victorene G. and Maud May on the family farm in Tecumseh Township, Shawnee, Kansas. [5]
The 1885 Kansas State Census, taken March 1st, listed Evaline, age 18, as living with her parents John and Rebecca, her brother Roy Carson, and her sisters Elizabeth Matilda, Victorene G. and Maud May on the family farm in Tecumseh Township, Shawnee, Kansas. [6]
In December 24, 1891 newspaper marriage license notice, it was stated, "Weddings vs. Divorces. Probate Judge Elliott spent a big part of the day yesterday issuing marriage licenses and performing marriage ceremonies. Licenses were granted during the day to the following: ......... Arthur A. McClelland and Eva W. Roberts, both of Topeka. ...... " [7]

The 1910 Federal Census, taken May 10th, listed Evaline, age 42, as living with her husband Arthur Allen, her daughters Jessie Marie, Maude Olive and Goldie Mae and her sons Howard Russell and Arthur Benjamin McClelland on the family farm in Tecumsch Township, Shawnee, Kansas. [11]
The 1915 Kansas State Census, taken March 1st, listed Evaline, age 47, as living with her husband Arthur Allen, her daughters Jessie Marie, Maude Olive and Goldie Mae and her sons Howard Russell, Arthur Benjamin and Scott Clark on the family farm in Tecumsch Township, Shawnee, Kansas. [12]

The 1925 Kansas State Census, taken March 1st, listed Evaline, age 57, as living with her husband Arthur Allen, her daughter Goldie Mae and her sons Arthur Benjamin and Scott Clark on the family farm in Tecumsch Township, Shawnee, Kansas. [14]
The 1930 Federal Census, taken April 9th, listed Evaline, age 62, as living with her husband Arthur Allen, her daughter Goldie Mae, her sons Arthur Benjamin and Scott Clark, and her daughter Jessie Marie and her husband John Cusic and their three children on US 75 Highway in Topeka Township, Shawnee, Kansas. The 1940 Federal Census, taken April 26th, listed Evaline, age 72, as living with her husband Arthur Allen and her sons Arthur Benjamin and Scott Clark on US 75 Highway in Topeka Township, Shawnee, Kansas. She had completed th eight grade. [16]
The marriage ended when Evaline's husband Arthur Allen passed away on February 8, 1950.
The 1950 Federal Census, taken April 10th, listed Evaline, age 82, as living with her son-in-law Omar Neal Dodge and her daughter Maude Olive (McClelland) Dodge on U.S. Highway 75 in Williamsport Township, Shawnee, Kansas. She was listed as a widow. [17]
Evaline passed away on January 13, 1952 in Wakarusa, Shawnee, Kansas at age 84. She is buried in Topeka Cemetery in Topeka, Shawnee, Kansas. [18]
