When he was 23, he married Elizabeth Walters,daughter of Aaron Walters and Susannah Lellement, on 17 Feb 1834^[2] in Pitt Town, New South Wales, Australia (Church of England Pitt Town).

ROBERTS. -— March 19, 1883, at his residence, Terrymount, Caddai, Richard Roberts, aged 72 years and 6 months, after a long and painful illness, leaving an affectionate wife and twelve children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and a large number of friends to mourn their loss.
