DIAMOND WEDDING. ROBERTSON - McColl - A happy family re-union took place at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. E. Hancock, Railway terrace, Kadina South, when the diamond wedding of Mrs. Hancock's parents, Mr and Mrs Charles Robertson, also of Kadina, took place on January 29. Mr and Mrs Robertson are respectively 86 and 83, and are enjoying very good health at present. Both are fond of gardening, and on fine days they drive out with pony and trap to visit their children and friends. Placid of temperament, they are enjoying the evening of their lives in quiet contentment, and are much esteemed by their many friends. Mr Robertson is the third son of the late Mr and Mrs Charles Robertson, of "Green-way," Strathalbyn, and was born in Aldinga in 1852, and spent his early years at Strathalbyn. He married Miss Charlotte McColl, of Deep Creek, Strathalbyn, on January 29, 1878, the officiating minister being the late Rev. J. Faulds Henderson (Presbyterian). Miss McColl was born in Scotland in 1855, and came with her parents, the late Mr and Mrs H. McColl, to Australia in the ship Tantivy, in 1857. The couple resided in Strathalbyn for sometime, and then Mr Robertson took up farming and grazing in the northern areas. They lived in various parts until they finally settled at Carrieton, where they lived for 20 years. Mr Robertson sold out in 1912, and the family went to Kadina, where they have since resided. The two-tier wedding cake was made by Mrs Hancock, the only surviving daughter, and Mr Robertson made an excellent reply to the usual toasts. Mr Robertson is a keen supporter of cricket and football, and rarely misses an important match. Many congratulatory telegrams and letters were received by the aged couple. Of a family of seven, there are four survivors-Messrs H. J. Robertson (Gawler), James A. Robertson and Archie D. Robertson (Kadina), and Mrs A. E. Hancock (Kadina). There are eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
