Martha is in the Rev Landsborough's census for the Parish of Stevenston from 1819 to Dec 1836. By 1841, John is a widower.
Searching the burial records for Stevenston between Dec 1836 and Jun 1841, there are two possible deaths of a Mrs Young noted on 26 Jun 1838 and 22 Dec 1838. Further research shows a Margaret Chalmers wife of Hugh Young died on 22 Dec 1838, so we now have the one possible entry.[1]
Martha may be the daughter of James Robson and Helen Black, born 1773 at Boglemart, Stevenston. James and Helen were previously in the Ardrossan Parish.[2]
