Mentioned in notice of the death of his daughter Margaret at the residence of his brother, James, in Pukerau, 1917.
David was born in 1855 to John and Helen (Paton) Robertson and christened at Logiealmond, Perthshire.[1]
David's brother John's headstone records his place of birth as "Dulitor, Perthshire, Scotland".[2] An 1861 census records three brothers (and other siblings) in West Duilater, Perthshire, all roughly the correct ages to be James, David and John, the brothers who emigrated to eastern Southland, New Zealand.[3]

From about 1893 to about 1899, David was first a member and then chair of the Otaraia Road Board, overseeing expansion in the district.[4][5]
David was the chair and secretary of the Kaiwera school committee from 1906 to 1917.[6][7][8]
He passed away at his farm "Dundonnachie" in Kaiwera on 20 August 1941, "after a painful illness", with second wife Mary Ayr Robertson passing away in hospital in Gore only two days later.[9]
