Biography
The marriage record of John Robertson (born 1848/49) mentions that his father also had the first name of John and that the occupation of both was the same, ie. "Iron Dresser". The job involved working in a foundry cleaning cast metal and moulds.
John's wife was Elizabeth Somerville and a record exists of persons with these names marrying in Falkirk (Parish No. 479 / Volume 0130) on 29 October 1843. It has not been verified that this was the same couple who were the parents of John Robertson junior.
The marriage record of John junior also shows that John senior had died prior to 19 June, 1874.
