This Thomas was married to a Lain who was probably related to the Lain's "Laynes" of Floyd, Kentucky. John lain "Layne" was a magistrate in Floyd County who was one of the people who granted permission for Joseph's marriage.

John Layne was the Magistrate in Floyd County Kentucky until 1813. John was probably killed during the war of 1812. He was in charge of the militia and there was another magistrate appointed in 1813. See John Layne for details. The names were spelled like they recorded them. Sometimes phonetic.
