DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with W by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with W:

Hi W,

Thank you for participating in the 2022 Connect-a-Thon. With your help we added 4,234 profiles as a team and the whole WikiTree community sourced 85,839 profiles with the help of 660 persons. Your help during this event and with each profile you added you helped improve the amount of connections on our site.

Thank you,

Astrid, Colleen, Eef and Margreet

Hi,

I saw that you edited the biographies and death places for a number of Witvoeten. You changed the deathplace from Verenigde Staten van Amerika to United States of America. I just wanted to mention that when working on a profile from the Netherlands (i.e. me being from The Netherlands) Wikitree automatically gives the option Verenigde Staten when I want to put in United States. The same goes for The Netherlands. So just wanted to ask which language I should use (English and override the Dutch translation), or English.

Many thanks.

Kind regards,

Sieger Witvoet

The ideal is to use the language of the country, so Nederland for birth and United States for death. Above the locations there is a language option. I often change that to Dutch, put in birth locations (to make sure I don't misspell Noord-Holland, etc.), and then change it to English for the death location. The reason I was bothering to change these is the death state wasn't known, so when I have done searches for Dutch-US profiles by country as a whole or by state, these didn't turn up in my wikitree+ search. Your profiles are sourced, but some others weren't and I wanted to be able to easily find those to source them. (Netherlands and Nederland both work in wikitree+ searches). Note that you can also use just United States (as prompted in the box) or USA (not as desirable as an abbreviation). I used the full name because you had used the full name. I usually just use United States because that is what the easy to use drop down list has.

Thank you for the edits on my managed profiles. The profile manager, Dan Jens, passed away a few weeks ago and I've taken over all of his managed profiles. There is quite a lot! I appreciate your help

I am happy to help. I think I stumbled on them when looking for Wisconsin-Netherlands profiles that needed sources. It looks like you have a lot of people born in the Netherlands. If you have problems, please ask in G2G - the Netherlands project folks are very helpful.

Thanks for showing Scotland as one of your interests. If you haven’t yet done so, please join the Scotland project via the G-2-G topic. As a long standing member of Wikitree, you will be a welcome addition to the regulars who have interests in Scottish genealogy.
i joined the project shortly before you posted this. How long does it take to start the Tartan trail? I know there are limited slots, but I would have thought I would have heard something by now.
