Mary never marries and stays at home with her parents. However, for the 1861 census she is in Quoyjenny with Janet Craigie age 61, Barbara Craigie age 54 and Helen Gibson as an agricultural labourer. In 1871 she is at home with her father and brother William. She dies in 1876 (3 years after her father) and is also buried in St. Mary Swando's Church Cemetery, Rousay.
