Biography

Thomas Robins was born in the Colony of South Australia (1836-1900)

Thomas Selinas Robins was born at Lower Wakefield, Hundred of Alma, South Australia on 16 September 1861. He is the son of John Robins and Jane Bowden.[1]

He married Leah Clara Arbery on 12 November 1887 on 12 November 1887 at his residence, Salt Creek, South Australia. He was 26, son of John Robins; she was 18, daughter of Joseph Arbery.[2]

They had at least eight children:[3]

  • Clara Ellen Robins, 26 April 1891 Hopetown nr Quorn
  • Mary Sophia Robins, 4 December 1893 Gordon
  • Eliza Rebecca Robins, 14 November 1895 Quorn
  • Jessie Maud Robins, 10 March 1898 240 Mile nr Mannahill
  • Leah Gilles Robins, 30 August 1900 Nr Mannahill
  • William John Robins, 1 July 1912 Crystal Brook

He died aged 69 on 24 January 1930 at Aberdeen, South Australia. His residence was Copperhouse (now both part of Burra).[4]

MR. T. S. ROBINS
Mr. Thomas S. Robins, who died suddenly at Aberdeen on January 24, was born at Woolshed Flats in 1861. He was the son of Mr. John Robins, of Cradock. For 21 years he was in the employ of the Railways Department, and until 1918 was stationed at the 240-mile cottages near Mannahill. Six years ago he went to Copperhouse, near Burra to reside and two days before his death moved from that place to Aberdeen. In 1883 he married Miss C. Arbery, of Quorn, who survives him. There are eight children—Messrs. T. Robins, of Adelaide; Jack and Joseph Robins, of Aberdeen; Mesdames M. Cousins, of Booborowie; W. Pearce, of Morolana station, near Quorn; A. J. Davidson, of Olary; J. McCarthy, of Adelaide, and P. W. Hogan, of Aberdeen. There are 32 grandchildren.

He was buried at Burra Cemetery.[6]
