Hi Tony

After a long break, we are now getting the New Zealand Project back in action. Would you like to join the Kiwi Crew Discord server? This is where we are discussing how the project will be organised, though any major changes will be signposted in G2G. (Make sure you follow the new_zealand tag). There is no obligation to take part in challenges, but you may like to discuss NZ history and work with others to create quality New Zealand profiles. We’re a really friendly bunch.

I have a heritage that provides a wealth of potential for research. My maternal gg grandfather, Alexander Black was a founding father of Auckland and a signatory to the Treaty of Waiting. While my paternal grand-mother was from the Pirirakau Hapu, with a French influence through the Bidois/Borell families.

Combined with that my grand-father was from Australia and his grand-father was a convict.

Research to date on both sides of the Tasman makes for interesting reading.

You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add Profiles to WikiTree - if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

If you need any help getting started check out the help section from the menu, top right, or head over to the forum and take a minute to introduce yourself in the Tree House. You might also want to check out the introductory WikiTree video that a member created.

We also have Mentors to help too.

Got the family research bug about 5 years ago and have enjoyed every minute of the journey since then. Research has centered on John Robinson a convict shipped in 1819 to Tasmania, who settled in Oatlands after gaining his ToL. New Zealand based research has been on the Bidois and Borrell families who settled in Te Puna and from whom I have gained a French and Maori heritage. Main research treads are Robinson, Bidois, Borrell, Warner, Black and Truscott.
