Biography

Josiah was born about 1805 probably in Cumberland County, Virginia, as that is where his parents lived at the time of his birth. His parents were Edward Robinson and Anne Meador . [1]

On 31 May 1827 Josiah purchased 25 acres of land on the waters of Blackburn's fork in Jackson County, Tennessee. It was recorded 11 April 1828. [2]

He married Jenny Kuykendall about 1829, probably in Jackson County, Tennessee. [3] They were the parents of five children, Jonas, Rasha, Peter, Noah, and Martha. [4]

Josiah died in Hardeman County, Tennessee between 30 October 1839, when he signed the agreement for division of his father's estate, and 26 December 1840 when the inventory of Josiah's estate and sale of his personal property was reported in Hardeman County, Tennessee. [5] His place of burial is unknown.

Josiah's wife also died at or around the same time as he did. No provisions for his widow were found in any court records. After the death of this couple, their five children were sent to live with several of Josiah's brothers. Peter was placed in the home of his uncle Jonas Robinson, and is recorded there in the 1850 census of Hardeman County. [6] Rasha went to live with his uncle Horatio "Rasha" Robinson in Yalobusha County, Mississippi. He is recorded in the 1850 census there. [7] Jonas, Noah and Martha were taken in by their uncle Walter Robinson. These three appear in Walter's home in the 1850 census of Hardeman County. [8]
