Biography

Nathaniel was born about 1758 in Cumberland County, Virginia. He was the eldest son of Hezekiah Robinson and Judith Unknown. [1]

In 1777, Nathaniel enlisted for a term of 3 years as a sergeant in Captain James Upshaw's Company, 2nd Virginia Regiment of Foot soldiers. [2] He appears on the muster rolls from May 1777 to April 1778 as fit for duty. [3] From December 1777 to April of 1778 Nathaniel was with his regiment at Valley Forge. [4] Although Nathaniel's name appears on the monthly payrolls for Captain Upshaw's Company from December 1777 to March 1778, his name no longer appears from April 1778 onward. This indicates his death occurred sometime in the month of April 1778. [5]
