Biography

Hannah Robinson was born 1795, the daughter of Reuben Robinson and Hannah Scott, of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia[1].

Circa 1814, she married Robert MacKinnon (born 1791), son of John MacKinnon1st, and they had children[1], including:

  1. Captain Robert MacKinnon 3rd, born November 3, 1814, who married Rhoda Crowell, daughter of Edward and was lost at sea February 1862
  2. Reuben MacKinnon , born October 24, 1816, who married Sapphira Tinkham, daughter of Edward 3rd on September 20, 1843; and then married Esther Kenney of Cape Sable Island on May 10, 1890[2]; and who died June 4, 1893
  3. Captain William Ronald MacKinnon, born April 24, 1819, who married Hannah Mood daughter of Jacob Mood and died November 12, 1876
  4. Almira MacKinnon, born October 16, 1821, who married Richard Durkee son of Pearl Durkee, and died Feb 22, 1870[3]
  5. Hiram MacKinnon born June 19, 1823, who was lost overboard in the bark Acadian at St. John, bound for Greenock September 21, 1849[4]
  6. Loran MacKinnon, born September 29, 1826, was drowned with his brother Norman when he swamped a boat off Chebogue Point on August 28, 1845
  7. Caroline MacKinnon, born March 1, 1829, who married Stephen Hersey son of John Hersey on January 8, 1848, and who died Feb 11, 1896
  8. Norman James MacKinnon, born April 20, 1831, who drowned with Loran August 28, 1845
  9. Sarah Jane MacKinnon born November 12, 1833, who died October 12, 1858, unmarried
  10. Captain John MacKinnon, born October 22, 1835, who married Lucy Scott Trefry, daughter of James A. Trefry on December 6, 1858, and who drowned November 23, 1897

Hannah died March 13, 1891[1], and is buried in Chebogue Cemetery in Rockville, Yarmouth County, Nova Scotia[5]. She was in her 96th year.
