Biography

Prime Iron Rochfort was the second son of James Rochfort (abt.1580-abt.1640) [1] and his wife Catherine

He was a Lieutenant-Colonel in Oliver Cromwell's Army during the English Civil War. [1]

About 1645 he married Thomazine Pigott daughter of Robert Pigott of Dysart and widow of Argentine Hull of Leamcon, County Cork d 1637. [1]

Prime Iron shot and killed a Major Turner in a duel and was sentenced to be shot; carried out on 14 May 1652 [1]

Issue - two sons, and three daughters

  2. Thomazine Rochfort (b.1648) d. infant buried St. Werburgh's, Dublin
  3. Dorothy Rochfort (b. 1649)
  4. Mary Rochfort of Streamstown, Co. Westmeath
  5. Robert Rochfort (1652 - 1727) m. Hannah Handcock daughter of William Handcock MP of Twyford, co Westmeath - Issue [2]
